Bus SystemsCar manufacturers introduce further advances in reliability, safety and comfort for drivers and passengers. Recently, a significant increase of electronic control units, smart sensors and electrical actuators applying communication constraints could be observed within the automotive industry. For these issues different protocols like the controller area network (CAN) and local interconnect network (LIN) were established. FlexRay is the latest established Bus System. It is going to be the de-facto standard within the automotive industry. Initially, FlexRay will not replace existing networks; it is designed to work in conjunction with established systems (CAN or LIN) and can also serve as backbone for those systems.
