RFID RAIL STANDARD EN 17230

Using RFID technology to identify rail components and vehicles, reduces errors and operating costs while improving customer satisfaction. To ensure a common RFID implementation in the rail sector, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) developed standard EN 17230 “Information technology – RFID in rail”. This standard has been published in late 2020. Important to know is, that the tag read range shall be between five and 15 meters, not exceeding 35 meters. Additionally, the minimum backscatter power and read speed requirements are defined. This helps to ensure the identification of tags on high-speed trains.

CISC RFID Xplorer supports the required tag and reader performance tests covering power, sensitivity, and timing according to ISO/IEC 18046-2 and ISO/IEC 18046-3.

Test your tag with CISC RFID Xplorer.
